Common questions
How does Tascify work?
Your child completes simple real-world tasks. You approve them with a tap, and the minutes they earn unlock their apps for that long. When the time's up, the apps lock again by themselves. You can also gift a daily "free time" allowance of 0–30 minutes on top, with no tasks needed.
How do I set it up?
- On your phone, sign in with your email (you'll get a one-time code — there's no password).
- Add your child and pick a few tasks to start with.
- Install Tascify on your child's phone and enter the pairing code shown on your screen.
- On your child's phone, allow Screen Time access when iOS asks, and choose which apps to lock.
The apps aren't actually locking. Why?
This is the most common issue, and it's almost always the same cause. Real app-locking uses Apple's Screen Time system, and Apple only lets an app lock a child's device when that device is signed into a child Apple ID that belongs to your Family Sharing group. If your child's phone uses a standalone Apple ID that isn't in your family, iOS won't allow the lock — that's Apple's rule, not ours.
To fix it: on your iPhone, open Settings → Family and make sure your child is listed as a child member. If they're currently on their own Apple ID, Apple's support pages walk through moving them into your family. Email me if you get stuck — I'll talk you through it.
Can I see which apps my child uses?
No, and neither can we. Apple deliberately hides that from apps like Tascify — we only ever receive an anonymous code for the set of apps you chose to lock, never their names or your child's usage. That limitation is also exactly why Tascify can promise your child's activity stays private.
Are photos of finished tasks uploaded anywhere?
Never. If your child photographs a completed task, the photo stays on their phone and is deleted once you've approved or declined it. We have no photo storage.
Can earned minutes be taken away?
No — by design. Minutes your child has earned are theirs to keep, like pocket money. You control how much they can earn and what tasks are worth, but Tascify will never confiscate time they've already earned. If you lower the daily free allowance, the change applies from the next day, so nothing your child is counting on today disappears.
How do I delete my account and all our data?
In the app, open the parent dashboard, scroll to the bottom of settings and tap Delete account. That permanently erases your family's data — every child, task, minute and device on the account. It can't be undone. You can also email hello@tascify.ie and I'll do it for you.
Is Tascify free?
Yes — free while we launch. If that ever changes, existing families will hear from me first, well in advance.
